COVID-19 FAQ

It goes without saying that camp will look a little different this year. We are working hard to make sure that the summer will have all of the traditions that make Rowe special, as well as safe. Out COVID-19 plan is always updating as we learn from our past events and adapt to new and changing guidelines. We will also host several parent information sessions to answer questions and hear concerns. In the meantime we’ve put together an FAQ to help answer some of the most common questions.

Will‌ ‌camp‌ ‌be‌ ‌open‌ ‌for summer ‌2022?‌ ‌

After a successful in-person summer 2021 season, we plan to run in-person youth camps again for summer 2022. We understand that the comfort levels of each family vary, and we will be holding parent Q&A sessions in the spring to answer any COVID-19 questions that may arise.

What are your vaccination requirements?

As of November 2021, all of our campers ages 6-19 are eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine. We expect campers to come to summer camp fully vaccinated, which means that it has been at least two weeks since their final shot. Our staff will also be fully vaccinated. We do not expect to be able to make accommodations for our vaccine requirement at this time. For questions on our vaccination policy please reach out to us directly.

Who‌ ‌is‌ ‌on‌ ‌staff‌ ‌for‌ ‌medical‌ ‌issues?‌ ‌What‌ ‌other‌ ‌steps‌ ‌are‌ ‌you‌ ‌taking‌ ‌related‌ ‌to‌ ‌staff?‌ ‌

As‌ ‌in‌ ‌years‌ ‌past,‌ ‌we‌ ‌will‌ ‌have‌ ‌a‌ ‌qualified‌ ‌Health‌ ‌Care‌ ‌coordinator‌ ‌at‌ ‌camp‌ ‌24‌ ‌hours‌ ‌a‌ ‌day‌ ‌to‌ ‌deal‌ ‌with‌ ‌all‌ ‌health‌ ‌issues‌ ‌that‌ ‌arise.‌ ‌Our‌ ‌COIVD‌-19 ‌protocol‌ ‌will‌ ‌be‌ ‌submitted‌ ‌to‌ ‌the‌ ‌Town‌ ‌of‌ ‌Rowe‌ ‌board‌ ‌of‌ ‌health‌ ‌for‌ ‌review‌ ‌and,‌ ‌as‌ ‌in‌ ‌all‌ ‌previous‌ ‌years,‌ ‌our‌ ‌overall‌ ‌health‌ ‌care‌ ‌policy‌ ‌will‌ ‌be‌ ‌reviewed‌ ‌and‌ ‌approved‌ ‌by‌ ‌a‌ ‌licensed‌ ‌physician.‌ ‌

 ‌

‌‌What‌ ‌changes‌ ‌are‌ ‌you‌ ‌making‌ ‌to‌ ‌the‌ ‌cabins?‌ ‌

Although‌ ‌our‌ ‌cabins‌ ‌currently‌ ‌adhere‌ ‌to‌ ‌American‌ ‌Camp‌ ‌Association‌ ‌COVID-19‌ ‌best‌ ‌practices,‌ ‌we‌ ‌will‌ ‌be‌ ‌keeping our 2021 modifications of fewer campers per cabin, more space between bunks, and ventilation fans in each cabin.

 ‌

‌‌How‌ ‌often‌ ‌will‌ ‌my‌ ‌campers‌ ‌be‌ ‌in‌ ‌indoor‌ ‌spaces?‌ ‌

We‌ ‌are‌ ‌fortunate‌ ‌in‌ ‌that‌ ‌most‌ ‌of‌ ‌our‌ ‌camp‌ ‌already‌ ‌takes‌ ‌place‌ ‌outside.‌ ‌Last summer we added a new shaded space underneath our rec hall, as well as new outdoor picnic tables for campers to gather around. We also have plans for a new gaga pit and volleyball nets coming summer 2022, which will offer additional outdoor game spaces for campers to gather at.

 ‌

‌‌How‌ ‌will‌ ‌you‌ ‌clean‌ ‌your‌ ‌indoor‌ ‌spaces?‌ ‌

All‌ ‌cabins,‌ ‌bathrooms‌ ‌and‌ ‌eating‌ ‌spaces‌ ‌will‌ ‌be‌ ‌sanitized‌ ‌daily‌ ‌with‌ ‌an‌ ‌electrostatic‌ ‌disinfectant‌ ‌sprayer.‌ ‌These‌ ‌sprayers‌ ‌are‌ ‌used‌ ‌by‌ ‌hospitals,‌ ‌hotels,‌ ‌schools,‌ ‌and‌ ‌other‌ ‌public‌ ‌spaces‌ ‌to‌ ‌sanitize‌ ‌large‌ ‌areas‌ ‌quickly‌ ‌and‌ ‌efficiently‌ ‌and‌ ‌without‌ ‌releasing‌ ‌chemicals‌ ‌into‌ ‌the‌ ‌air‌ ‌like‌ ‌spray‌ ‌‌cleaners‌ ‌or‌ ‌aerosols.‌ ‌

 ‌What‌ ‌happens‌ ‌if‌ ‌someone‌ ‌tests‌ ‌positive‌ ‌or‌ ‌shows‌ ‌symptoms‌ ‌of‌ ‌COVID-19?‌ ‌

If‌ ‌an‌ ‌individual‌ ‌begins‌ ‌to‌ ‌show‌ ‌symptoms‌ ‌they‌ ‌will‌ ‌be‌ ‌immediately‌ ‌quarantined‌ ‌until‌ ‌testing‌ ‌can‌ be‌ ‌performed.‌ ‌The‌ ‌camper’s‌ ‌parents‌ ‌will‌ ‌be‌ notified‌ ‌when‌ ‌they‌ ‌show‌ ‌symptoms‌ ‌and,‌ ‌depending‌ ‌on‌ ‌the‌ ‌situation,‌ ‌arrangements‌ ‌will‌ ‌be‌ ‌made‌ ‌for‌ ‌the‌ ‌camper‌ ‌to‌ ‌be‌ ‌picked‌ ‌up‌ ‌from‌ ‌camp.‌ ‌If‌ ‌a‌ ‌case‌ ‌is‌ ‌confirmed‌ ‌via‌ ‌onsite rapid testing,‌ ‌all‌ ‌parents‌ ‌will‌ ‌be‌ ‌notified‌ ‌within‌ ‌two‌ ‌hours‌ ‌of‌ ‌receipt‌ ‌of‌ ‌a‌ ‌positive‌ ‌test‌ ‌via‌ ‌phone‌ ‌and‌ ‌email‌ ‌and‌ ‌we‌ ‌will‌ ‌begin‌ ‌the‌ ‌contact‌ ‌tracing‌ ‌process.‌ ‌

What‌ ‌is‌ ‌the‌ ‌max‌ ‌capacity‌ ‌for‌ ‌camp?‌ ‌

It‌ ‌is‌ ‌very‌ ‌likely‌ ‌that‌ ‌our‌ ‌max‌ ‌camp‌ ‌capacity‌ ‌will‌ ‌be‌ ‌limited,‌ ‌and‌ ‌we‌ ‌do‌ ‌not‌ ‌know‌ ‌what‌ ‌that‌ ‌number‌ might‌ ‌be.‌ ‌That‌ ‌is‌ ‌why‌ ‌it‌ ‌is‌ ‌so‌ ‌important‌ ‌to‌ ‌register‌ ‌early!‌
